Essence I love stage - eyeshadow base

The one thing you should have in your makeup collection is an eyeshadow base. 2,49 EUR, Kruidvat, 4 ml or 0.13 fl. oz. Essence says that it can either be used as a base for concealer or eyeshadow. the creamy texture won’t settle in the crease of your eyelid - it makes every eyeshadow last longer and intensifies the color. I tested it when I went biking, it kept the eyeshadows beautifully and guess what, it also survived the ultimate test, an all day office wear.
The reason I bought this base is its light beige colour, as my favourite HEMA eyeshadow base leaves a slightly white shimmery trace (great for shimmery eye looks). This base is fantastic as it actually helps conceal any discoloration in your eye lids. Worth snapping up!

Essence You Rock! eyeshadow base review

Essence has recently come up with the you rock! trend edition, which contains an eyeshadow palette, an eyeshadow base, refreshing spray, a pocket brush, a lipstain, and 5 nail polishes (01 cut off the beige, 02 love, peace and purple, 03 kings of mints, 04 let me in pink and 05 speed of light blue). The idea is to contend your every need during the summer open air festival season :-).
It is the eyeshadow base that made it to my review (thanks, Zuzka!).
The base makes your eyeshadow long-lasting and it intensifies its colour. It costs 1,99 EUR, 2,1 ml/0.07 fl.oz.
It has a really light, almost airy composition, making it nicely blendable (almost without a trace) into your eyelid, leaving just a slight veil of golen shimmer. When I swatched it, I saw immediately what they meant with intensifying the colour, my Catrice CO3 spiced red just pop up beautifully! I would definitely recommend this eyeshadow base because it does its job really well in both field, longevity and colour enhancement and what is more, the price is fantastic!

Eyeshadow bases review

Here is an overview of my eyeshadow bases (struggeling with a plural here!). First I bought HEMA eyeshadow base (11ml, 3,95ml), next was NYX eyeshadow base (from Boozyshop, 6,99 EUR, 7g, in skin), then I got Urban Decay Primer Potion 3,7 ml, included in my NAKED palette, and finally, there is 1.45 g eyeshadow base included in NYC Individual eyes 939 Bryant Park palette.

This is probably not going to be any surprise if I say that the best primer is the Urban Decay Primer Potion, followed by HEMA eyeshadow base and then there are NYX and NYC, but you can pretty much put them together in the third place. I have to stress though, that there is a huge gap in quality between the second and third place :-).

Primer Potion has a light consistency, it dries invisible into your eyelid and it makes the eyeshadow last all day long. HEMA eyeshadow base has a creamy white colour and it does not blend that well into the eyelid, but your eyeshadow will not move one milimeter, that is guaranteed. NYX eyeshadow base has a very disappointing performance, it starts to melt about 4 hours after you put your make up on and NYC has about the same longevity. They are both of skin colour and have a light creamy consistency.
From left: violet eyeshadow from NYC palette, HEMA, NYX, Urban Decay, NYC.

I swatched all bases: first is an eyeshadow on its down (left), then HEMA, NYX, Urban Decay, NYC. Top row is a base on its own and bottom with the eyeshadow. Now it is also perfectly visibly why it pays off to wear an eyeshadow base, the eyeshadow colour just pops out!

Urban Decay NAKED PALETTE

A huge surprise on Good Friday! I was sitting on the plane from Brussels to Bratislava (Ryanair) and I did not even check their offer (why would I...), when the air stewardess passed me by with a trolley, loaded with the ONE and ONLY, the BEAUTIFUL, the FANTASTIC, the ORIGINAL, the LEGENDARY NAKED PALETTE!!! I could not believe my luck! When I was trying to buy it in January in New York, all Sephora shops said the same thing - hopelessly sold out...so, of course I bought it, it cost 35 EUR. Ryanair has updated their sky shopping also with L'Oreal Studio Secrets smoothing resurfacing primer, 2x15 ml for 15 EUR, if I remember correctly...wow to Ryanair!

I know there have been volumes and volumes written about this object of desire for so many beauty addicts, but...It contains 12 shades (matte, shimmer, satin and sparkle), a cruelty free brush, and of course yet another legendary Urban Decay product - Eyeshadow primer potion (3,7 ml)- heaven!  :-)
I still have not tried it, so far I have been just admiring it (I have been longing for it for such a long time!), it is absolutely perfectly packed, so elegant...People on the plane thought I was buying a box of chocolate :-)
Shades: virgin, sin, naked, sidecar, buck, half baked, smog, darkhorse, toasted, hustle, creep, gunmetal

How to prevent your eyeshadow from creasing

Our eyelids happen to be one of the oiliest parts of the face, so you may have realized that unless you do something about it, your eyeshadow is going to end up all creased already around lunchtime. And it makes no difference whether you applied a fancy DIOR ombre à paupières or Ruby Rose quad.

If you are familiar with YouTube gurus, then you know all about Too faced Shadow Insurace and Urban Decay Primer Potion (don’t you just love that name). However, I was not ready to cough up 18 $ for a primer in New York, especially if I have already discovered a very inexpensive way to prevent my eyeshadow from creasing - HEMA EYESHADOW BASE.

It was recommended by a friend and the moment I tried it I knew I was onto something great. It makes sure your eyeshadow stays put in place, it costs under 4 EUR and will last an eternity (you will have to depot it after 6 months, to get maximum out of the product).

The product has a consistency of a stiff cream, it is slightly shimmery and comes off lightly white on the eye lids.

For the record. I bought also NYX eyeshadow base in skin colour (6,99 EUR, Boozyshop, available in skin, pearl and white). My eyeshadow creased halfway through the day, as the texture is quite creamy, but still, it is better than no primer.
